Description

Argyreia nervosa, commonly known as Hawaiian Baby Woodrose or HBWR, is a flowering perennial climbing vine native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It features large heart-shaped leaves, pink-purple flowers followed by a rose shaped dry capsule.

It’s well-known for its psychoactive properties due to the presence of ergoline alkaloids like ergine (LSA), which is structurally similar to LSD. Historically, it has been used in traditional medicine and shamanic rituals for its hallucinogenic effects.

However, it’s important to note that consuming seeds or extracts of Argyreia nervosa can be risky due to the variability in alkaloid content and potential side effects, including nausea, vomiting, and in some cases, more severe reactions.

Argyreia nervosa prefers sub-tropical to tropical conditions, moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil in full sun. As this is a vigorous vine a climbing frame, trellis or wall will be required.

Approx. 9 seeds per gram.

Common name: Adhoguda; Vidhara; Elephant Creeper; Woolly Morning Glory.

Germination Tips: Scarification is required to germinate Argyreia nervosa seeds. You can nick the seed on the opposite side of the “eye” and additionally soak the seeds in warm water for approximately 24 hours after scarification.

Alternatively, which is the method we use and find is more than adequate, is simply the soak the seeds in warm water until swollen, which is approximately 24 hours. Then cover the swollen seeds lightly with media and place in a warm position. Germination typically occurs within 2-4 weeks.

We cannot ship this species Internationally.
