Turbina corymbosa (Ololiuqui) Seed

Price range: $4.90 through $44.90

Description

Turbina corymbosa, known as Ololiuqui, is a vigorous woody vine native to Latin America, Mexico and Peru. A traditional sacrament of Mexican shaman, this species is used shamanically, medicinally and for divination purposes.

The seeds contain ergine (LSA), an ergoline alkaloid similar in structure to LSD. They have similar traditional uses to Hawaiian Baby Wood Rose Argyreia nervosa seeds. It is said the Aztecs used Ololiuqui seeds to communicate with the gods.

A perennial vine that grows to a length of 10m. The stem is slender, woody, branching and twining; the leaves are glossy green and heart shaped. The flowers are white, trumpet shaped and approx. 4cm across and the fruit are soft woody capsules containing one seed.

Ololiuqui prefers rich, moist, well drained soils in a protected, sunny position, and is drought and frost tender.

Approx. 44 seeds per gram.

Common Name: Christmas Vine; Christmaspops; Snakeplant

Botanical Synonym: Turbina corymbosa; Ipomoea corymbosa (accepted name); Rivea corymbosa.

Germination Tips: To increase the germination rate, Turbina corymbosa seed should be treated first. Soak your seed in hot water or the seed can be nicked or scarred so that water will penetrate the seed’s hard coating and induce germination. Use a sandy free draining soil mix and place in a warm area.
