Argyreia nervosa var. nervosa is a perennial climbing vine native to the Indian subcontinent and introduced to numerous areas worldwide, including Hawaii, Africa, and the Caribbean. It features large heart-shaped leaves, pink-purple flowers followed by a rose shaped dry capsule after which its common name is taken.

In Ayurvedic medicine, every part of the plant including the seed, leaf, bark and root have usage as they possess a broad-range of pharmacological activities such as antimicrobial, antidiarrhoeal, hepatoprotective, anticonvulsant, antioxidant, aphrodisiac, immunomodulatory, analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity. Traditionally used in Hawaii for religious and sacramental purposes.

Common names.
Adhoguda; Vidhara; Elephant Creeper; Woolly Morning Glory.

Ideal Growing Conditions.
Prefers sub-tropical to tropical conditions, moderately fertile, moist but free draining soil in a full sun position. As this is a vigorous vine a climbing frame, trellis or wall will be required.
