Description

Ipomoea purpurea ‘Crimson Rambler’ is a beautiful heirloom cultivar of the common morning glory, producing an abundance of striking crimson-red, trumpet-shaped flowers with a contrasting white throat. This vigorous annual climber is highly valued for its rapid growth, lush heart-shaped foliage and prolific flowering habit, making it an ideal choice for covering fences, trellises, arches and pergolas throughout the warmer months. The blooms open with the morning sun and continue to be produced over an extended flowering season, providing a spectacular display while attracting bees, butterflies and other beneficial pollinators.

Easy to cultivate, ‘Crimson Rambler’ performs best in a sunny position with well-drained soil and regular moisture during establishment. Plants can reach 2–4 metres in a single season under favourable conditions and require a suitable support structure for climbing.

A long-standing favourite in cottage gardens around the world, ‘Crimson Rambler’ is grown primarily as an ornamental for its brilliant floral display and vigorous growth. Its reliable performance, ease of cultivation and masses of vivid blooms make it an excellent addition to any garden where a fast-growing seasonal climber is desired.

Germination Tips: To germinate seeds soak in warm water for 24 hours before sowing. Once soaked, sow just below the surface and keep moist until germination.
