Description

Ipomoea quamoclit ‘Cardinalis’, known as Cardinal Climber Red, is a vigorous annual vine prized for its fiery red, star-shaped blooms and delicate, fern-like foliage. The brilliant cardinal-red, tubular blossoms are up to 4 cm long, flaring into five-pointed stars. Each bloom lasts a single morning, but the plant produces copious flowers throughout the season.

This plant prefers full sun for best flowering; it tolerates light afternoon shade in very hot climates. Provide a trellis, fence, or twining netting. The vine will spiral clockwise as it grows.

‘Cardinalis’ brings dazzling, long-lasting colour and delicate texture to any vertical garden feature. Its rapid growth and abundant blooms make it a standout choice for a summer-long display of vibrant red star-shapes against a lacy green backdrop.

Common Name: Cardinal Vine; Red Cypress Vine; Hummingbird Vine; Star Glory.

Germination Tips: To germinate seeds soak in warm water for 24 hours before sowing. Once soaked, sow just below the surface and keep moist until germination.
