Description

Acacia acuminata, broad phyllode variant, is a species of Acacia native to Australia and grows as a tall shrub or small tree. In ideal conditions it may grow to a height of 10m, but more commonly averages 3-7m.

This is a tree with linear to narrowly elliptic green to bluish-green phyllodes. The flowers, which bloom near the ends of the branches, are golden yellow, rod shaped and about 2.5 cm long.

Acacia acuminata contains psychoactive compounds such as dimethyltryptamine (DMT), making it of interest to researchers for its potential psychoactive properties.

Endemic to Western Australia, it occurs throughout the south west of the State and is common in the Wheatbelt. It is well-adapted to arid and semi-arid climates, making it a resilient addition to gardens and landscapes in regions with similar environmental conditions.

  • Ideal Growing Conditions.

This is a hardy tree that prefers a free draining soil. It prefers full sun but will handle part shade, and tolerates drought, salt and frosts. They do not tolerate humidity well.
