Description

Acacia pendula, commonly known as Weeping Myall or Boree, is a graceful and highly ornamental Australian native tree admired for its elegant weeping habit and silvery-grey foliage. Native to inland regions of eastern Australia, this hardy Acacia is widely valued as a feature tree, shade tree and drought tolerant landscape specimen.

Growing into a small to medium-sized tree, Acacia pendula develops long pendulous branches clothed in soft narrow grey-green phyllodes that create a beautiful cascading appearance. In spring and early summer, the tree produces clusters of fragrant pale yellow flowers that attract bees and beneficial pollinators.

Highly adaptable once established, Acacia pendula thrives in full sun and well-drained soils and is particularly suited to dry climates and waterwise gardens. It tolerates drought, heat, wind and a range of soil types including clay soils better than many other Acacia species.

This elegant native tree is ideal for avenue planting, feature planting, habitat gardens and large landscapes where its distinctive weeping form can be appreciated. Minimal maintenance is required once established, with only occasional pruning needed to shape the canopy.

Germination Tips: To increase the germination rate you should treat the seed first. Soaked in hot water or the seed can be nicked or scarred. This will allow water to penetrate the seed’s hard coating and induce germination. Use a sandy free draining soil mix and place in a warm area.
