Description
Chaga mushroom powder has a long history of use in traditional medicine among various indigenous cultures, particularly in Russia and Siberia. Chaga mushrooms are believed to have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune-modulating properties. They have been used traditionally to boost immunity, improve digestive health, and support overall well-being.
Inonotus obliquus, commonly known as chaga mushroom, is a fungus that grows predominantly on birch trees. It is recognised by its distinctive appearance – a black, charcoal-like mass of hardened fungal mycelium. The exterior is rough and crusty, resembling burnt charcoal, while the interior is a rusty brown colour.
Scientific studies have begun to explore the potential health benefits of Inonotus obliquus. Research suggests it may have antiviral, and antidiabetic properties, although more clinical studies are needed to confirm these effects in humans.
In addition to its medicinal uses, chaga holds cultural significance in some indigenous communities, where it is revered as a sacred and powerful healing fungus.
