Description
Moringa tea offers an earthy flavour similar to that of green tea. It is less bitter and astringent than most green tea varieties and can tolerate high temperatures and longer brewing times. The tea is frequently flavoured with honey, mint, and cinnamon to balance out the earthy notes.
The dried Moringa leaves contain antioxidants, vitamin C, calcium, iron, and thiamine. The antioxidant activity of these ingredients has been linked to better immune health and help protect cells from damage. Moringa leaves also contain quercetin, an antioxidant that may help reduce high blood pressure in certain individuals and improve overall health and immunity. In addition, moringa leaves contain chlorogenic acid, which research shows may help regulate blood sugar levels.
The anti-inflammatory nature of this tea makes it ideal for soothing stomach upsets, calming diarrhoea, and constipation symptoms, and generally improving gastrointestinal health.
How to Brew Moringa Tea
Heat water to a boil. Use 1 tsp of Moringa leaf powder for each cup of water. Pour the water over the tea, cover and leave to infuse for 1-5 minutes. Strain, add your preferred sweetener and serve.
