Artemisia absinthium is native to North Africa and temperate regions of Eurasia, and widely naturalised in Canada and the northern United States. It is grown as an ornamental and medicinal plant, and is used as an ingredient in the spirit absinthe and some other alcoholic beverages.

A herbaceous perennial plant with fibrous roots, Wormwood stems are straight, growing to 0.8–1.2 m tall with grooved, branched, and silvery-green foliage.

Traditionally used in Western herbal medicine to support general health and wellbeing, to relieve mild fever, to relieve loss of appetite, and to help remove intestinal threadworms.

Traditionally used in Western herbal medicine to stimulate gastric secretions, improving digestive weakness, and reduce symptoms of indigestion.

Also used in traditionally Western herbal medicine as a nerve tonic, supporting ones nervous system.

Common Name.
Absinthium; Absinthe Wormwood.

Germination.
Keep seed in constant moisture, but not wet, with temperatures of about +20°C. Covered seed very lightly with soil.
