Description
Scutellaria lateriflora, known as Skullcap, has been used for more than 200 years. It is used as a mild relaxant and as a therapy for anxiety, nervous tension, and convulsions. It has significant antioxidant effects, which may help protect against neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, anxiety, and depression.
Skullcap has also been used as an alternative medicine to help reduce inflammation and provide relief from spasms. It has also been used to stimulate blood flow in the pelvic region, help eliminate headaches, and reduce fever. Compounds such as baicalin, baicalein, and wogonin are believed to contribute to its therapeutic effects.
How to Brew Scutellaria lateriflora Organic (Skullcap) Tea
Heat water to a boil. Use 1-2 heaped tsp of Skullcap for each cup of water. Pour the water over the tea, cover and leave to infuse for 10-15 minutes. Strain, add your preferred sweetener and serve.
