Description
The California poppy ‘Ivory Castle’ is a refined and distinctive variety, featuring clusters of creamy-white blooms with soft yellow centres that stand atop its fine grey-green foliage. These delicate, silk-like flowers unfurl from pale lemon buds into smooth ivory-white petals, each accented by cream-colored anthers. California Poppies are a hardy annual, growing to 40cm in height and flower extensively throughout Summer. They prefer a sunny position, that can be grown in all soil conditions, and are drought tolerant.
California Poppy herb may assist with sleeping issues (insomnia), aches, nervous agitation, bed-wetting in children, and diseases of the bladder and liver. It is also said to promote relaxation.
Germination Tips: Sow Eschscholzia californica seeds 3-5mm deep in direct position or punnets. Keep moist. Best to sow in early Spring. Seeds will germinate in 14-21 days with a soil temp. of 16-21°C. These plants are very drought tolerant once established. Water sparingly—overwatering promotes foliage at the expense of blooms. Best in cool to warm climates; in hot, humid regions blooms may fade; tolerates light frost.
