Description

Our Turmeric plants are sprouted rhizomes, ready to be planted out in your garden and provide endless amounts of fresh Turmeric for the years to come. The turmeric rhizome is used a powerful anti-inflammatory with antioxidant properties. Commonly used in Western and Eastern medicine for many health benefits.

Also a commonly used ingredient in Indian cooking for both flavour and colour.

Turmeric purchased from the local supermarket can be used to grow a plant, but with spotty results. Grocery store turmeric is often sprayed with a growth inhibitor to keep it from sprouting before it’s purchased. That inhibitor also keeps it from sprouting when you stick it in a pot of soil.

Common name.
Indian saffron; Ukon; Nghe; Wong-Keong.

Syn.
Curcuma domestica

Ideal Growing Conditions.
Prefers warm, wet conditions in the summer, and cool, dry conditions in the winter. Becomes dormant in Winter.

Specifications.
50mm Pot Size
Divided Plant
Shipped as a bare-rooted sprouted rhizome

We cannot send plants to Western Australia & Tasmania due to restrictions.

We strongly recommended to select Express Post shipping for all plant orders to minimise the transit time.
