Description
Andrographis paniculata, also known as King of Bitters, is an annual plant native to India and China. It has traditionally been used in Ayurvedic medicine to stimulate gastric secretions and relieve the severity of symptoms of mild upper respiratory tract infections and congestion.
Andrographis is used to support healthy immune system function, relieving the symptoms of the common cold, and reducing the duration. It may help with relieving runny noses, coughs, mild swelling of the glands, and mild throat inflammation. Also traditionally used to reduce restless sleep, reduce the duration of headaches, and relieve symptoms of sinusitis, such as, sneezing.
It prefers prefers moist, well drained soil in partially shaded position. It is frost and drought tender and grows to 1 metre in height and 0.6 metres wide. It produces delicate white flowers with purple spots in late summer.

Germination Tips: Germination of Andrographis seeds require scarification due to their hard seed coat. To improve germination rates, seeds should be soak in hot water for 5 minutes prior to sowing Sow seeds in a well-draining seed-starting mix, covering them lightly with soil. Keep moist but not water-logged. Germination should occur in 7-14 days at temperatures of 20–30 °C.
