Acacia obtecta (Native Acacia) 20 Seeds

Description

Acacia obtecta is an obconic shrub, that is endemic to a small area in south Western Australia. “Obconic” means inversely conical in shape, resulting in an attractive small tree. It typically grows to a height of 1.5 to 3 metres with slightly ribbed, pale grey, glabrous branchlets.

Confined to but locally common in the Paynes Find- Wubin- Kununoppin area of south-western Western Australia, excluding the type locality at Lake Barlee. It prefers to grow in red loam or clay and blooms from August to October, producing a mass of yellow pom-pom like flowers.

Germination Tips: To increase the germination rate you should treat the seed first. Soaked in hot water or the seed can be nicked or scarred. This will allow water to penetrate the seed’s hard coating and induce germination. Use a sandy free draining soil mix and place in a warm area.
