Description
La Fee is a fragrant blend of essential oils traditionally used to create authentic Absinthe-style flavouring. It contains wormwood, fennel, hyssop, and more than a dozen additional botanicals from a secret recipe blend.
Traditional Absinthe recipes generally use around 2ml of essential oil blend per 375ml of 70% alcohol or high-proof vodka. The higher alcohol content helps keep the essential oils fully dissolved.
Traditionally, Absinthe is served by adding an equal amount of water after pouring. This reduces the alcohol content to approximately 35% and causes the oils to naturally come out of solution, creating the characteristic cloudy appearance and flavour experience associated with Absinthe.
If 70% alcohol is unavailable, 30–40% vodka can also be used. However, at lower alcohol strengths the oils will not fully dissolve and may remain suspended as very fine droplets. When using 40% vodka, shake vigorously before serving to evenly disperse the oils.
This versatile oil blend may also be used to flavour chocolate, as a fragrant aromatic oil in burners, or to enhance and fortify commercial Absinthe products.
